For some reason my fps just decided to start being a problem the past couple days. It's always been steadily at 80-90 fps even in the heat of battle... but now sometimes... and I mean sometimes... it decides to run at max 50fps and drop to 20-30 fps. It does this occasionally... and no outside programs are running... just wondering if anyone had the same problems or knows how to fix it? |

basically, go to funmaps and just rush everytime. start spraying while in the midst of crossfire. Mainly watch your choke during this. It should still remain from 0-1 (mine goes up to 10 but I used to play with 100choke so I can handle it) also, just whenever you have a chance in game, watch your loss. If you are getting loss, I always lower my "rate" but 1000 until it's a constant 0 (no exceptions to 0 here). Start at 25000 and go down. If you have this setting too high, the computer/connection tries to use more bandwidth than you have. basically, loss sucks. Make sure you don't have any other programs running. ctr + alt + delete, go to processes tab, and make sure there aren't any gay programs running. If none of this works, run a virus scan with the most pimped out virus scanner you can get your "E-hands" on and pwn your computer first in normal mode, then safe mode if you find anything. Clap came to us (n4b) and someone suggested a virus scan. It ended up he had a load of viruses. and if this doesn't work, I can say that I have no clue, but go to the forums at www.caleague.com this is where I first heard about interp and rates before it was every brought to n00bfest. (even back when I was more nub than I am!) Call your ISP? I guess one more thing to try: I think it was you who kept telling me that low cl_updaterates and cl_cmdrates are good. So if it was, try turning your rates up to cl_updaterate 35 and cl_cmdrate 35. (correct me if I'm wrong about the cmdrate, but the updaterate at 35 works perfectly for me/my internet settings. 1 choke in heavy combat) If you have these settings too low, you may get loss (:?:), but you are restricting the bandwidth from you to the server. oh btw, I pwn.period |

I generally keep cmdrate/updaterate both at 20... keeps me at .05 interp... and I sometimes get 1 choke... never see any loss. Other then that everything is fine... it's just occasionally... but more often then not lately... the fps just decides to run slower then it should. So I don't know if my video card is going... if my processor isn't handling it properly... or what it could be. I asked the Geek Squad at best buy  And they said update your drivers... but I didnt see anything in the updates that would help me... and I haven't always had this problem. My personal thought is something is dieing... just trying to get an idea as to what it could be  |

Well... I kinda think I might have figured some of it out. I watched my processes when the fps went down... and my spyware/anti-virus were running update checks... so I think that is part of it. Even still you would think 2.6 ghz with 1500 ram would be able to multi task. Damn POS! |

I was actually having the same problem a few days ago. I hav an LCD monitor so my max fps is 60, but it kept dropping to 30 every 2 seconds, even when standing still. I changed some cl_updaterate/cmdrate shit around and it's all good now |

Im sad to say but I think it's the Elite server that makes the fps lower. I heard a lot of people say they are lagging... but they weren't lagging... their fps was just lower then normal  Oh wells... I'll just have to learn hows to own in 30fps - 100fps... fluctuations a pain! |
