So i know just about nothing about computers and all that, but here is my problem: I play cs on my shitty laptop and have for a while now. Now even though what i play on is far from ideal, it got the job done and allowed me to hax noobs. However, about a month ago whenever i go to play, i play fine for a couple min, and then it starts. My fps drops done to like 10 and i just kind of lag around hoping no one shoots me until it spikes back up and im fine to play. I thought it was my connection but i tested it somewhere else and it still does it which means it's probably my computer. Now i would think it was just this piece of shit not being able to handle the pressure, but i used to be able to play fine without the interruptions but now it happens all the time. my fps drops and stalls out for a while, and then comes back and its fine for a little, then does it again and again and again. if anyone knows why this would happen or possible ways to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated so i can play peacefully again..thanks |

Quick ? on the laptop. Make/Model? Are your fans running at highspeed? When was the last time you cleaned out the exhaust port. The li'l lady had almost the same problem with hers. The cooling fins where clogged with dust and had to take apart the lappy to blast out the minidustbunnies with compressed air. |

Well my point is that if the fans are running in high speed mode constantly it is possible that the cooling fins are crammed with dustbunnies. Since CS requires alot of CPU cycles the chip is going to cook. If you cooling system is clogged what will happen is while it is cool the PC will run fine, as the CPU overheats it will start to slow down until it cools to the point that it can up the CPU cycles again until it heats up. If you post your service tag # I can lookup in the service manual and see if you have to open up the unit to get it cleaned up or if you can just blast it out with a can of air. (BTW I'm a Dell Tech) |

hey, the jumps and time it takes to recover are usually pretty quick. if it does start to suck, it usually fixes itself within 5 seconds or so. anyway the tag # is 2w3w231 |

Hmm from the sounds of that, it could mean you have something running in the background rather than an actual hardware problem. Probably some sort of malware. Try opening up taskmanager and watch the performance graph with nothing running, if you see big spikes then switch to the processes window click on the CPU tab twice and see what is running at the top. It should show "System Idle Process" as the first process, then whatever is running under it. |

Hey i tried doing that and I didn't notice any spikes or anything. There are a ton of processes listed but they all have 00 under cpu.. another question: i uninstalled CZ and then reinstalled it, but when i reinstalled it, i didn't have to type any of my bind commands back into the console or anything. they were already still saved. does that mean i didnt uninstall correctly or something |
