| Post subject: | Avatars and Signatures, a most basic How-To |
It seems that a lot of people don't understand how to put pictures in their avatars or profiles. This isn't going to explain how to create an image using photoshop or anything, my guide assumes you already have a picture you want to use. IF THE PICTURE IS FOUND ONLINE: 1) Copy the picture's URL by right-clicking and (for internet explorer users) going to "properties" and copying the given address, or (for firefox users) right-clicking and choosing "Copy Image Location." Internet Explorer-
Firefox-
2) For an avatar - -open your n00bfest profile (go to the forum index and it's at the top of the page, next to "n00bfest").
-scroll down to the bottom, a section called "Avatar Control Panel". Paste the URL of your desired picture into the blank, and click "Submit".
3) For a signature - -again, open your n00bfest profile, but scroll down near the middle, to a section called "Profile Information". The bottom field is where you input your signature.
-To include a picture, copy its URL in between brackets. (This is the same thing you do if you want to include a picture in a post.) Click "Submit".
IF THE PICTURE IS NOT ONLINE: If the picture you would like to use is on your PC, and not online, you have to find someone to host it online (in other words, put it on their site). Sometimes you can ask a n00bfest elder to host it on n00bfest, but it's much more practical for everyone if you instead sign up for either an imageshack (www.imageshack.us) or photobucket (www.photobucket.com) account. These allow you to upload multiple pictures from your computer onto an account, and then they give you a URL to use for each one. For example, all the pictures in this guide I hosted on a photobucket account. |

Good job, man. Contact me when I'm back home this weekend and I'll move those images and host them so they don't move or expire on us. |

Uhm...something to do with muscle contractions, I guess...I was never big on biology. Or, if you're talking about CZ, it's usually default: W- forward S- backwards A- sidestep left D- sidestep right You can use your mouse to help steer which direction you want to go in. Oh, and space is to jump and shift is to walk and cntrl is to crouch. |

Oh, well Pepper, those work the same way, you just need a URL to the .gif file...as far as how to make them, I have never tried. You need some sort of frame by frame editor, I guess. |

Not to second guess you... but the actual site asks not to have anything bigger then 80x80 or bigger then 6kb... is that just something someone looked over and forgot to change? :? |

Yep that's B to the S, and it's not Britney Spears, nor is it Boy Scouts. And...it's not butt sex, bone saw, or even "Barely Seventeen" (I highly recommend that series.) It's probably not a lot of other things too. |

alright, Ill still try to keep it small though. I think it might have to do with the server having to keep up with all the file sizes? Dunno... could use a comp course... dunno all the program stuff most of you guys do  |

No, unless you're getting the pic hosted on n00bfest, it just loads it from the off-site URL each time someone views it, so it's not bad for the site...but go ahead and keep it small anyways, all the better. |

I think this is a good size... not too big... but big enough to see the cat get revenge on the German Shepherds  (I have a White Shepherd... so I need to change that  ) |
