Hi everyone,
I need some help limiting my fps in css on your server , after an hour or so with fps hopping between 200-298 my screen literally splits &
windows remains that way until I shut it down (overheating most likely).
Using fps_max 101 only works if command is used before connecting to your server for the 1st time (it always resets to 300 fps as soon as I reconnect).
This only happens running CSS through steam on US servers but yours is the 1st server I haven't been able to use this command successfully.
After this happens it affects windows & won't disappear until a system shutdown.

I can edit a cfg if I know where to look & what command / value to add.

The graphic card is a HIS 6790 Fan 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E (Waste of $130 Aus)
All computer hardware is running at stock on air cooling, never oc'd.

Win7 SP1 64bit Ultimate
Intel 2600
16GB Corsair Vengeance
Asus P8Z68V (BIOS Version 0902) Motherboard
Asus VE278Q Monitor
Silverstone DA-750 PSU
2 x 2TB Seagate sata 3 HDD's

Ambient room temp 35-40 degrees Celsius
95-105 degrees Fahrenheit

It ain't much but it's all I can afford right now.

Your servers are great & I'd like to keep playing here but the GPU glitching out is killing me.

open notepad and do this:

fps_max "67"

save the text file as "autoexec.cfg" but make sure when you do, you save it under "all files" like in the example shown at the bottom of this message.

Save the file in your C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\***YOUR USERNAME***\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg folder.

Are you using your computer with the heat cranked up as far as it will go? That is extremely hot for your room temperature. Might help if you get a fan running in the room or something. If you are overheating with just running CSS even at ridiculous frames something else is wrong. Your rig should be able to handle everything on high with no problems. Do you have an internal temp monitor? Im willing to bet if you cool your room down it will help quite a bit because if it is constantly circulating 100 degree air through your system its not going cool much at all

I have isolated what I think is the problem , I didn't bother listing it because I didn't realise it may be important , an old PCI TV Tuner card (Compro DVB-T 300), power or heat issue? I don't know tbh.
Pulled the card & uninstalled the software , it seems to have resolved the issue for now.

Hi honestly? Don't I know it? :P I have no air con in my house & the temperature in Melbourne (Australia) when I posted this was 40 degree Celsius = 104 degree Fahrenheit that day (Summer here atm) though that's PSU is almost 6 Y.O & I'm sure it actually heats up the room , I used it a heater last winter sadly enough.

My apologies to HIS for paying out on your card , I should have tested before making that statement.
