Post Fan questions
Ok so i got my computer fixed about month 1/2 ago now (new motherboard) got the guy to fix it all and such and they did no problem everything works fine...well about 2 weeks ago my computer started to make a funny ass noise so was like wtf turned it off open it up and see if anything was going on with it. (loose parts/what not) nothing so i turned it back on no problem everything good. Today i wake up to same noise im like GAH! So i open it up while its on and look for the noise (anything in the way) nothing there...i try to grab a piece of dust i saw just hanging there my palm hits the fan (not the heatsink one) the one that blows out the back of the computer. It stops im like wtf!? nothing is in its way nothings near it.

So question is....could he of fucked up how to put it on? altho only thing i see is 4 screws keeping it up in place and it connected to something lol(didnt follow the cord was to lazy) Could my fan be going out on it? If so they cost lot to get a new one? and if it goes out will it F*CK my computer up other than it getting hot? which could eventually lead to melting of motherboard...so i guess i just answered my question on that one. So do i just live with the noise or do i replace it? Its kinda annoying and can get loud after awhile but it also will sometimes stfu and stop so im just curious what to do.

If you have turned off the computer and turned it back on and it still isn't working, either there is something blocking it from spinning now, you accidentally unplugged it from its power source, or it's broken. If it's broken you have a few options on replacement, the "I want one now" approach: Just go to your local computer store and tell them what is broken and get a new one, if they are nice and you bring your tower in they'll prob put it in for free or at the max like a dollar, lol. Option #2: The "I want one that is cheap as possible/decent", go to Newegg and pick out whatever. Option #3: The "My whole computer has lights and I wanna pretty one to match the neon pink interior with purple hearts on the side", Newegg probably doesn't have those so just hunt around and buy the prettiest one that you find.

If you still need to use your computer during this time, it'll probably be fine if you just leave the side off and if you want to be careful about using it, take a box-fan(or whatever you have, but a box-fan will work the best since they are usually the size of the side of your computer tower or larger) and leave it there. If it is a box-fan, I'd have it blowing the air out, if not and it's like one of those desktop fans or one that oscillates then you should probably have it blowing into the case.

Here's a list of 120mm fans on Newegg. Honestly, they're probably the easiest thing to replace on a computer. You can get a 120mm fan shipped for $10 here. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=573&name=Case-Fans

lol you mistakenly think I give two shits about "your nuts"

I just don't agree that the ghettofabulous solution you suggested is the best course of action.

Well what would you suggest his course of action is in the meantime before he gets a new fan for his computer if he feels like he needs something to use while he gets a new one? Blow on it?

"OMG you mean I'll have to shut off my shit... go to the office supply store and buy a cheapass fan?!"

Besides, from his description, its the rear case exhaust fan. Depending on the manufacturer, they sometimes don't even come with that fan. I havn't seen the specs on his rig, but I doubt it will meltdown in the three days it would take newegg to get him one. I mean it's not like he'll have to have a fan custom made.. if it's a 120mm it'll even have holes to mount an 80mm if thats what it takes. I fail to see the reason to jump to a F*CKING boxfan.. but w/e winnit what are your machines specs? case, mb, cpu, vid, ram

It was just a suggestion to him because I know of people that have done it in the past for various reasons. I made the parts bigger that may interest you since you seem to have missed them from 2 of my earlier posts. It wasn't like I told him to stick it next to the AC immediately. Calm down Hulk!
