Edit: picture of the thing is at the bottom of the post. It's a placeholder for something, and I'm hoping it's for http://www.pcrush.com/product/Laptop-an ... refid=1643. So I can actually hear something in-game. I think every review I've read and watched, nobody even mentions it.. 1:30 you see the placeholder above the 2 usb ports but the idiot passes it over like it isn't there. Specs: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g6 ... 24579.html. Attached is the placeholder pulled out. The long part is where the pins are inside on the computer which looks almost identical to what the sound card looks like except narrow all the way down, and the small side has nothing on the inside which makes me think that it could possibly be it, but at the same time since it has that odd side that it is for something else.

I think that's an express PCMCIA slot. The sound card says express on it, I think it'll work :P |

Yeah, that's just the piece of plastic that keeps the dirt out you can use as a storage thing for them, ones a SD and dunno what the other side is, just like there's a fake SD card on the front that is just there to keep dirt out. Yeah, apparently even though amazing, this laptop is now old news in the Asus gaming line and they no longer even show it on the website as a computer unless you dig deeper. It's ok though, I'll take a $1000 laptop for $700 on clearance at Best Buy. I hope this card works.. I can't take this terrible sound and the only way you can get a direction on a sound is if you look straight at it. More than 5 degrees either way and it's only left ear/right ear. |

Yeah, they slide in and click. then when you get them out you just push on the back with your finger through the hole and it pops out. |

Exactly, and it's just designed for when it isn't in use by an actual express card, you can use that plastic thing to hold the 2 memory cards so you don't lose them and store it in your computer. |

Ok ok -- so the insert is a placeholder for an express card slot, but this placeholder has the cool feature as doubling up as a memory card holder? |
