I had probs with my soundcard with win7. Even after I thought I had updated the drivers. What I had to do in the end was go to my MOBO card manufacturer website and get their onboard sound driver specifically for win7. (I don't have a hardware sound card). Once that was installed, and I configured the custom control panel, everything worked fine. Hope that somehow helps you a little. |

i did that but asus didn't have drivers for windows 7. so i used the ones for windows vista 64 bit. after i did that the 'Speakers' option became available as oppose to just the 'SPDIF Interface' that was originally there. when i check the properties of 'Speakers', there is not Jack Information. i tried plugging in the wires again. still no good. |

I would go into the sound options, highlight the correct output and click configure. make sure it is set to the correct 5.1 surround option. It sounds like it might be set to just surround and using your rear speaker as the right and left. |

when i do the sound test. it shows which speaker its testing. and they are showing the correct ones. just the front two aren't working. it is set to 5.1 surround. i have jack information now and it says. Quote: L R C Sub RL RR SL SR |

damn it, now i have a new problem. when i load css i have sounds, u can hear when u go up and down the menu. but as soon as u join a server. the sounds go away. i also tried to set it to 2 speakers rather than 5.1 but it keeps automatically going back to 5.1 when i restart source. |

You might have Exclusive Mode on. Go to Sound -> your speakers -> Properties -> Advanced and uncheck both boxes. If these are checked, it will have a program take exclusive control of your sound and you won't get sound in others. This is almost always the solution when someone can hear vent, but not CS or vice versa. |

I'm having the same problem, sorta'. Just yesterday I unplugged my headphones and had no sound coming from the laptop speakers. Though when I plugged the headphones back in, there was sound. I looked around and found nothing, went into BIOS to check the volume, still nothing. Ended up contacting Asus support, haven't got a reply yet. But if anyone has the same issue and found a fix please do tell. Thanks. |
