| Post subject: | G5 issues |
Anyone know about a problem with the G5 mouse where it would "pause" for 1-2 seconds randomly and then start working again? It happens all the time in cs as well as any windows program. It seems to be completely random, and updating the driver didn't help. When it pauses, you can hear the sound that windows makes when it detects usb devices. It sounds like something is unplugged and plugged back in. |

could be a connection issue between the mouse and computer, make sure the mouse is plugged in all the way, or try a different usb port and see if that helps |

I had the same exact problem, as did another member (Vision I think?) I'm assuming it must have been a driver update causing the problem for us *shrug had to get a new mouse |

I wasn't sure why but it would reset the DPI randomly and it happened frequently while playing CSS. I couldn't figure out whether it was software or if it was hardware or maybe both. I ended up smashing it against my desk repeatedly in a fit of rage and buying a razer. i like the razer, its the lachesis. |

That's exactly how I feel like right now. Each time I'd have to wait for mouse to get active and then change dpi. Things are getting even worse now where it would just stay stuck unless I unplug and replug it. Tried all the ports and same results. This is the last time I'm going to touch a logitech mouse again. |

my razor copperhead use to do that same thing with the DPI F*CKING up but I stopped using it for a while started again about 2 weeks ago and updated the drivers and it works fine now I think before my issue was because it didnt support vista yet. |

i don't know how old your mouse it, but it could be a driver issue or possibly the cord is wearing out? i had my ear buds wire wear out after having them a year cause i used them so much. (very thin wire) |

Here we go - http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/boa ... e.id=11973 Logitech is simply utterly unreliable for heavy gamers. Just like the mx series, the g5 stops working right after the warranty period is over. |

are your usb ports overclocked? my mx518 would do the same if i put -high (for higher cpu usage in css) in the launch properties as i have a single core cpu. |

Not undeniable, but my own previous experience with logitech made me make the conclusion. I had worse problems with my mx510. Logitech replaced it 3 times for me, each time it ending up broken one way or another. That's when I switched to a regular Microsoft intellimouse, before getting the G5 after it came out. I've seen other boards where people seem to have the same problem. No one seems to know an exact solution except sending it for repair or replacing it. are your usb ports overclocked? my mx518 would do the same if i put -high (for higher cpu usage in css) in the launch properties as i have a single core cpu. Nope, but I have 6 usb devices plugged in. This problem started happening about a month ago (about a year after I got the mouse). At least this lasted one year, compared to my mx510 (3-4 months). I think I paid around $60-70. It was good while it lasted :( |

Well, it finally happened. The g5 is dead. It completely stopped while playing cs last night. Seems like the wire somehow got partially decapitated where it meets the body, and it randomly turned on and off for a few seconds and died peacefully. I've ordered a Razer Deathadder as the replacement. Hopefully that one will last a while :) So far, Microsoft Intellimouse - 6 months before left click got screwed up. Logitech mx510 - 3 months, no more right click. Logitech mx510 replacement through warranty = 1 month, left and right click works only randomly. Logitech mx510 replacement through warranty = 2 months, left click won't drag. Logitech g5 - around 1.2 years. Razer Deathadder = to be seen. I chose the Deathadder because I heard that it's better for low sens gamers while the Copperhead is better for high sens. Not sure if it's true, but hopefully it'll be a good replacement. The g5 was excellent while it lasted :( |

So far I've owned 4 Razer products and only two have broken. One from spilling Coke all over it and the other from rage tossing it at a wall. |

I love my Razer Copperhead. I put the pro-mod weights in it. Haven't had a single problem with it and it's been threw hell over the last couple of years. |
