| Post subject: | New Motherboard Question |
So, I had a friend put in my current CPU on my motherboard awhile back, and he said something about using glue with it. If I purchase a new motherboard, would I also have to buy a new chip? I'm not sure if he was talking about glueing it to the fan or to the motherboard itself. I was hoping I would just be able to take it out and transfer it over like everything else. EDIT: Got the info I needed. Research goes a long way :P |

that glue is a type of sticky paste stuff that goes on the chip to help increase heat removal and help seal the metal to metal.. all you want on your chip is a VERY thin lay of it, almost like waxing a car.. |

I don't think it should be called "glue." And when you put it on my CPU you F*CKING covered it in like a centimeter thick layer. |
