Post Monitor Help
Hey guys. I am looking for a way to increase my fps. I have put fps_max at 999, but for some reason, it still wont go above 60. I heard that there is some way to turn off the thing that regualtes that on my monitor, but I dont know how. Can someone help?

Go to your video card settings and turn off VSync. This will cause tearing in the image but it makes your fps much higher. By the way, fps_max sets the cap on your fps. You will want it set at 101.

Is tearing of the image bad?

it doesnt matter what framerates you're running at if your monitor is not showing more than 60hz... 60hz = 60 fps. You need to see if your monitor refresh rate can be bumped up to 75 or above. In fact, you may need to force the refresh rate to stay at a higher level when running opengl games. WinXP will kick your monitor down to 60hz when it enters into opengl mode. You'll either need to find the setting in your display properties to force refresh rate or you may need to download a thirdparty program such as reforce.exe to force the refresh rate. Be warned though... make sure the refresh rate you select is supported by your monitor.

actually, ready for this?

If your card is capable of pushing over the allowed ammount of fps in CZ, and you know it is. Here's a few super 1337 commands for you.

Type them in this order and your FPS will jump, when I use them I run around 300-350fps.

net_graph 3 (obviously, 3 is the best, it's smallest)
net_graphpos 2 (you can use a few diff numbers, this relocates your graph on your screen)
fps_max 10000
developer 13

and that is how you boost your FPS from 60 to 1337.
