Post Problem
Ok whenever I try playing any type of video file my computer just shuts off. No matter what program I use. I tried updating Windows Media Player and it still happens. It can even be a streaming video, or one from a DVD. But it doesn't just reset my computer, it just cuts off and my hard drive stops spinning.

I would try to do a system restore first, definitely a software issue. If you can still game then it cant be hardware related.Virus or spyware more than likely.

Yea I tried system restore. It can only restore to yesterday. None of the dates last week would restore, it would go through the whole process and get back to Windows and say restor failed. I figured it was a software issue, so I uninstalled all video programs and ect, but still crashes even after that. Ran spyware and virus scanner and it came up with nothing.

Seeing as how it turns your computer off when you try a video app it looks like you have some malicious spyware or some shit.I would google the shit out it and see if that turns up any leads. Also the first place i look for spyware is in my startup menu.

There is a program called hijackthis www.tomcoyote.org/hjt that will give you a log and with that you can find someone on the web to look at it for you and tell you if you have a virus or spyware.

If none of the above works i hate to say it but it might be time to backup what you can and reinstall windows.

I just reinstalled Windows last night. Didn't format anything just reinstalled over it and now it works fine. I think something must have got corrupted somewhere along the way. Still don't have a clue what could cause it. I googled and it turned up nothing near what it was doing.
