Alright....I'm about to be getting my annual reenlistment bonus money of about $1000. I want to get a new TV (cuz my old one is getting old and looking like shit). I want to know what you guys would do. I've been looking on BestBuy.com and found two TV's that i like. One is an old-style analog TV and one is a new Widescreen HDTV Ready TV. Which would you guys rather get? I know i remember hearing on TV that in a year or two, everyone will have to get HDTV anyways...so let me know. Here are the two one's i was looking at:

Amazingly, the Widescreen one isnt all too expensive...so that's why i was wondering. I dont know....

Widescreen durrr, TV's (Besides Plasmas) could last you a long time if taken care of, and its common sense to get an HDTV if its going to be only HDTV broadcasting in 2009 to be exact.

2009? wow...i thought it was going to be sooner than that. hmm...yeah...i'm most likely going to get the widescreen one (if i can get my wife to buy into it)...i just want some input as to what other people would do.

If i were you joe, I would hold off till around christmas. They have new technology coming out using carbon nanotubes. The processing cost for making the tv's are way cheaper than plasma. That in turn will make them significantly cheaper. Find info on-line about it, and you'll see what's worth waiting for.

I cant hold off until Christmas. I'll admit...i dont get paid a lot of money at all. My money is gone by the first weekend after payday, with bills and rent and all. If i dont get something now, i wont ever get something. lol. i hate living paycheck to paycheck.

You should still read up on it though. It's gonna change tv the way lcd and plasma did when it first came out.

well if u want to be up to date wait, if you want somthing that will do perfectly for someone as untechy as you. Then buy it now. it will probably even have a DVI-Slot or an S-Video slot. but with your E-Machine you might need to upgrade to a radeon somthing to get those benefits.

The widescreen hd ready tv is the way to go man and make sure you get a service contract also its well worth it if you can spare the extra $$

oh, i can spare it alright. this is MY bonus money. lol. my gift to myself. that's why i want to go all the way and get the widescreen one. Football would look excellent on it! heh. so would all my widescreen movies, too. so yeah...i have two weeks to look into it still.
