 Background
A while back, we got this virus/adware crap and since then my background on my account turned dark blue and I can't change it. I tried going to properties and desktop and it won't even let me click on the dad blame pics for the backgrounds. And plus I've right clicked on pics and clicked, Set as Background, but all I get is the dark blue. But when I log off my account, right before it logs out, I SEE THE BACKGROUND! Its farely annoying. All I can change is the color of my background. Anybody?

Get rid of the virus/adware? I thought it was common sense that if you got a virus/adware, you would actually try and get rid of it...

Yea well, our Norton thing ran out and we haven't had time to go and download it. I figured that whatever happened that day that it changed some settings and I could change em back or something, but I assume I'm wrong.

I knew that was coming. My question was, IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN CHANGE MY BACKGROUND? Editing the question right now, WITHOUT HAVING TO DOWNLOAD SOMETHING? Thats all I'm asking, I know where to find anti crap.

So I was thinking, why don't I just plug my headset in while its playing? So I did, and WAL LAH! It worked. Music was playing from my speakers and CZ was playing through my headset. Damn I'm smart. OH EM GEE, I ment to put that in my other topic, the Headset/Speaker one. Mabe I'm not so smart after all..

Sounds like there is still a backround process (probably poorly programmed) that is running that captures the background wallpaper. That's why you see the background during shutdown, when that program unloads, the background flashes through. Is your desktop othewise normal?
So, you need an antiV scanner, there are free ones although I pay for mine. You can try to identify it, but most likely it's running as a service which are controlled through control panel - Administrative tools - Services. There are ways to run services or background processes without them showing there.
Google for scanners.

They have a 30 day demo and it's like $40/year.
